Atletico Madrid agree deal to sign Chelsea forward
Chelsea have confirmed they have finally reached an agreement for Diego Costa to seal a transfer to Atletico Madrid for a fee reported to be around £53million.
The Blues released a statement this afternoon saying that the Spanish international agreed on personal terms with Los Rojiblancos and passing medical.
The 28 years old Brazil born striker joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid back in 2014
and played a key role in their 2014/15 and 2016/17 season triumph .Though successful on the field he never really felt comfortable in personal terms. At the end of last season he was told by coach Antonio Conte that he is no longer in his plans.
Atletico’s transfer embargo will be ending in the winter transfer window which will see the player moving to his former club as rumoured since this summer.Diego Costa made 85 appearances for the Madrid club striking 53 goals.
Reports suggest there should be no further complications in terms of the player agreeing to the move and completing any medical examinations.
Final stages of the deal could even be done in time for Chelsea’s visit to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League next Wednesday.
Even though he was linked to AC Milan and Paris Saint German move this summer the player himself made it clear he wants to return to his former club. Since then he has not been involved in Conte’s side this season.
