Team Form :-
Athletic Bilbao :-
Athletic have made a solid start to the campaign although did suffer their first defeat under new boss José Ángel Ziganda at the weekend. They’ve been very good defensively so far and up against defensive maestros Atletico Madrid, it’s hard to see this being anything other than a tight, low-scoring game.
The previous round brought Athletic Bilbao their first loss for the season and first goal conceded. They visited Las Palmas and were defeated with a narrow 1-0. It would have been 6 straight clean sheets were it not for a late Loic Remy goal which gave Las Palmas a 1-0 win. That was the second time that they failed to score. Also, all four matches they’ve played so far ended with less than three goals scored in total. With 7 points, they are currently sitting at the 6th place in the league table.
Atlético de Madrid :-
As for Atleti, they made a good start to life in their new stadium with a 1-0 win over Malaga on Saturday although it wasn’t a totally convincing display. Their transfer ban has prevented any radical changes to their side so it feels very much like business as usual for them. That normally means games with few goals and there has only been 1 goal scored in total in their last 3 competitive games with two 0-0 draws proceeding their weekend success.
After four weeks, with 8 points, Atletico Madrid is the fifth-ranked team in Spain.
Team News :-
Jose Angel Ziganda will be missing center back Yeray Alvarez and right back Oscar de Marcos for even more time here due to cancer and injury, respectively.
Atlético de Madrid
Diego Simeone has an injury to right back Sime Vrsaljko and center midfielder Augusto Fernandez that will keep each man out.
Likely Line-ups :-
Athletic Bilbao :- Kepa; Lekue, Etxelta, Laporte, Balenziaga; Rico, San Jose; Williams, Muniain, Garcia; Aduriz
Atlético de Madrid :- Oblak; Juanfran, Godin, Savic, Filipe Luis; Gabi, Thomas, Saul, Koke; Griezmann, Vietto
