Manchester City tracking Turkish teenage sensation
Manchester City are targeting 17-year-old Turkish goalie Berke Ozer.
Ozer plays for Turkish club Altinordu and has already made a name for himself. A host of top clubs from England, Germany, Italy and Spain are vying for securing Ozer’s signature. According to club president Seyit Mehmet Ozkan, Manchester City are one of the interested clubs.
“One of the clubs trying to sign Berke Ozer is Manchester City,” Ozkan told Turkish-Football.
“In total four teams are from the race the other clubs are from Germany, Italy and Spain.
“We want Berke to stay on and become a first-team keeper for us because we will give him playing time.
“Berke is going to go to the World Cup in India with the under-17 side so he’ll gain valuable experience there.”
Manchester City have been scouting Ozer for over a year starting from the 2016 U-16 All Star Cup held in Czech Republic. Ozkan was quoted in an interview last year: “Manchester City and a few German sides want Berke Ozer.”
Ozer is considered a huge prospect in Turkey and has already broken into Altinordu first team making two appearances for the senior side this season.
Ozer, dubbed as ‘Turkish Donnarumma’ might cost City something around £4.3m.
