Since the arrival of Pep Guardiola to the humid city of Manchester, fans and football enthusiasts all around the World have begun to closely follow City’s pursuits in the Premier League and other tournaments. A lot was expected from the ex-Barcelona player and manager who had won nearly everything in his glittering managerial career with both Barcelona and Bayern Munich but things didn’t run according to plan as a disappointing first season saw questions being raised on the quality of the English side.

Manchester City finished 15 points behind champions Chelsea and 8 points off Spurs. Pep has always been a manager who has demanded everything from his team and the ageing squad looked to be a great barrier in his project. City have, since last season, focused mainly on bringing in young prospects and quality additions with likes of Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva, Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and John Stones ready to cease the spotlight and rise to the occasion.

Reports far off the city, in Munich, suggests that Robert Lewandowski may be on his way to Manchester for a reunion with his former boss next summer. The Polish hitman, now 29, is unhappy with his stay at Bayern and has publicly criticised Munich’s transfer strategy and internal atmosphere after the summer transfer window. Pep may very well want this move to happen, as they clicked well while his stay at the Bavarian capital. The duo successfully clinched two consecutive Bundesliga during Pep’s stay in Munich. Robert may also consider this move as he would definitely try to see how the Premier League pans out for him.

Different reports suggest that 2017 Champions League winners Real Madrid have shown faint interest on the charismatic forward though Bleacher reports that the Polish captain, who has already struck 5 goals in 4 matches this season, has dismissed all rumours.

Since the start of the new season, Man City have been splendid, already on top of the league after the first five games which included 4 wins and a stalemate against Everton while both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have had a bumpy ride so far. It will be interesting to see how City’s main man, Sergio Aguero react to such speculations as he did more than enough last season to gain Pep’s trust to name him in the starting 11 even after the arrival of talented youngster Gabriel Jesus from Palmeiras. Also what needs to be seen is how Pep and City approach such a situation which could prove to be a definite game changer if it clicks, though Pundits are questioning whether Pep will go all out next summer for a 29-year old.
