Real Madrid put their title defence back on track with a comfortable 3-1 win over Real Sociedad
Real Madrid crushed Sociedad 3-1 to get back on winning ways.
Real managed to get all three points at Anoeta, collecting their first victory since the opening day after two frustrating draws at home. Sociedad really made a up grand show but Real had just enough quality to go past them.
An early half goal from youngster Mayoral was cut off by the home team’s Rodrigues. But then unfortunately he scored again but at the wrong end of the pitch to give high hopes. At last, Gareth killed down any further comeback from the opposition.
Zidane had promised earlier that he will rotate his squad once more this season to keep legs of the first time regulars fresh and also helping young prospect to hold the opportunity to show their talent.
Before their trip to Anoeta, Zidane found major absentees in his squad. With Ronaldo still serving his ban, the responsibility again fell on Asensio’s shoulder. But that was not all. The team also gave a grasping news that more players were to miss this fixture through injury. Karim Benzema was one of them but the loss of Tony Kross was the painful now. The German suffered a knock in the last game against Levante and didn’t attend the training prior to the clash.
So it opened up the opportunity for young forward Borja Mayoral who made his debut in the La liga from the start having already featured in the preseason and scoring a magnificent goal against MLS all stars. He proved to be a fantastic introduction for he had a hand in two of the three goals scored yesterday. With Isco playing in a more wider position, he was required to seize every opportunity to score.
Both teams faced each other after applauding European nights. Real out classed Apoel Nicosia at Santiago Buarnabeu by 3-0 in a fascinating Ronaldo show. Their opponents last night scored one more in 4-0 thrashing of Norwegian champs Rosenborg at Anoeta.
So it was actually turned to a must watch fixture because of the absentees Real had and also Sociedad hold a hundred percent start before meeting the Galacticos.
It didn’t took long for Spectators the truth of the story. The away side drew the first blood after continuous crosses and passes down the flank. In the 16th minute, Modric’s long diagonal found his team mate Casemiro. The Brazilian quickly spotted Ramos sprinting towards the box and drive the cross inside the area. The latter tried to attempt a overhead volley by juggling the ball with his feet. But it was Mayoral who reacted quickly and let the loose ball crashed inside the net, sublime finish from close range.
But the ground is Anoeta and for the home side it was like inviting guest to a castle equipped with lethal weapons. It was only minutes after the opener that Sociedad responded. Some fantastic work from Ex Madridsta Sergio Canales opened up a huge space for him to lift a up a cross inside opposition’s penalty area. Dani Carvajal seemed to do every thing to clear the danger but he was blinded by the swift approach of Rodrigues from left back. With a first time effort, he placed his strike on the volley perfectly between Keylor Navas rippling the bottom corner.
Unfortunately, he was forced to score an own goal following a terrific work on the right side by Mayoral. In the 36th minute, Modric released Mayoral to have a run at the right corner. He was quick to unleash a defense breaking pass which ultimately was slotted in by Rodrigues. Real got their lead back for the second time.
To make up the show entirely for the away side Gareth Bale was there to produce a cheeky finish past Rulli to achieve three points.
Zidane wish that this victory would provide a start of winning back to back games, the one which they did last season going 40 match unbeaten. The next mission for him is to recover their status in the league at Santiago Buarnabeu.
