Match Preview : East Bengal vs Mohammedan Sporting Kolkata Premier League

0 39

The Kalyani Stadium will be rattled with roar of the supporters today when East Bengal will play their 7th round of match of Kolkata Premier League against Mohammedan Sporting in the so called mini Derby of the League.

East Bengal are sitting at the second position of the league table with getting 18 points from their previous 6 matches. They are just one point behind their rival club Mohun Bagan who have collected 19 points from their seven outings so far in the league. So a win on Saturday will surely boost up the confidence level of East Bengal to win the Kolkata Premier League 8 times in a row.

East Bengal is looking good as a team in this year’s League but in the previous match against PathaChakro they were clearly in pressure when the opponent had taken the lead in the first half but ultimately they had won the match with a scoreline of 2-1 with the penalty goal of Al Amna in the dying moment of the match.

The Derby of the Kolkata Premier League will be held on next Sunday at Kanchanghungha Stadium and East Bengal would like to be ahead of their arch rival Mohun Bagan in terms of points in the Derby which will probably going to be a League decider.

So winning this match against Mohammedan Sporting would be very important for East Bengal to get the League this year also. But if they lose points in this match it would create a huge impact in the points table of the League. So Khalid Jamil will wish that his team do not fall a slip in this match to make their journey towards getting the league complicated.

Mohammedan Sporting are now out of the contention to win the league from here after their loss against Mohun Bagan. They had got the lead in the match with Sekh Faiaz scoring for them but Mohun Bagan came back in the match brilliantly. Mohammed Azharuddin had scored a good header as Mohammedan Sporting defender Richard had not marked him properly in front of goal.

In the previous encounter against Railway FC they were victorious with a margin of 6-0 where Dipanda Dika, their main striker had scored 4 goals and Sekh Faiaz was also in the scoring sheet.

Their coach Biswajit Bhattacharya believes that the players are determined to get a win against East Bengal on Saturday to make a mark of them in the League and would like to finish the League on a high note.
