English Premier League: Liverpool vs Burnley Match Preview

0 30

Liverpool FC are all set to face Burnley at home this Saturday as Premier League football returns after midweek Champions League.

Liverpool were unlucky to be held to a 2-2 draw at home against Sevilla after Firmino missed from the spot. While Burnley won 1-0 last weekend against Crystal Palace to stand 6th, Liverpool were handed a 5-0 thrashing at Manchester City to drop to 7th with Sadio Mane seeing the red. Mane has received a 3 game ban and is all set to miss the clash. In spite of that, Liverpool should have enough firepower to beat Burnley with Coutinho expected to start. But Chris Wood might still cause the shaky Liverpool defense many problems.

Team news

The FA have rejected Liverpool’s appeal over the length of Sadio Mane’s suspension, with the Senegalese forward set to miss the next three domestic games.

Oxlade-Chamberlain excited for midfield role under ‘loving’ Klopp
While Mane is a big miss, Klopp will likely call on Philippe Coutinho as the Brazilian bids to return to full fitness – and the coach is set to continue rotating his goalkeepers with Loris Karius making way for Simon Mignolet.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could also finally be handed the central midfield role he has been craving as Klopp shuffles his pack after a few draining weekends.

Burnley boss Dyche has few injury worries apart from Tom Heaton, with the No.1 goalkeeper ruled out for months after dislocating his shoulder in the win against Crystal Palace.

Predicted Line-ups

Burnley starting XI: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Ward, Beg Gudmundsson, Cork, Defour, Brady, Wood, Vokes
