Serie A Match Preview: AS Roma Vs Hellas Verona
Serie A: AS Roma Vs Hellas Verona Match Preview
Following a 0-0 Draw at home to Atletico Madrid in the champions league Tuesday night Roma get back to business as they return to Serie A play. Roma will host Serie A new comers Hellas Verona in what will be their 3rd game of the season Roma haven’t played a league game in Serie A since before the league’s International break most recently played on August 26th in their controversial 3-1 loss to Inter Milan.
Prior to the game against Ath Madrid the Romans were expected to play last Saturday against Sampdoria but the game was cancelled due to weather conditions. The two sides last played during the 2015-2016 league campaign. During that season Hellas Verona did quite well against Roma earning two points against the Romans but did end up getting relegated that season. Verona hasn’t got off to the best start this season even though the table is irrelevant this early this season it does look like they will find themselves in a relegation battle based on what I’ve seen from them. On their opening day match against Napoli they were just ripped part on both areas of the pitch as they were second best to the ball most of their game.
Verona drew to Crotone in their second game which was another poor performance as Crotone were the better team in that game then last week they lost again against a dysfunctional Fiorentina side 5-0 it really does seem they have a long season ahead they will be fighting for survival all season. I don’t think Verona has the team to stop the Roman super power despite Roma having a one win and one loss this season their options that they have will make it very difficult for Verona even to score in this game. The on aspect of the game that I would of thought they could attack the defense but not only do Verona don’t have a lot of scoring options but Roma proved to be very solid at the back and Allison right now is playing as good as anyone in Serie a I believe he can prove to be one of the best keepers this season. Spending time learning behind Szczęsny really helped him developed into a class keeper through three games he has played he has saved 20 out of 23 shots on target including 9 saves yesterday some of which that were game saving saves. On top of that Bruno Peres came back from Injury Florezni is now fit and we could see Patrik Schick make a full recovery and make his very anticipated debut after his club record move to Roma at the end of the summer. The problem is going to be Verona don’t have any scoring options I think they will find it very difficult to even challenge the Roma goal they just don’t have that one player that can do it for them.
Roma will likely to use a similar team to how they lined up against Atletico in the champions league although I think El Shaarawy should get a start in this game Defrel continues to struggled granted he did better Tuesday then in previous games but I think its time to give El Shaarawy a run out he has pace they can break down the opposition he can rip through any defense when he has space to operate I think with El Shaarawy Perotti as the wings and Dzeko up front would be a very lethal looking team it would be a very speedy attack with a clinical finisher. I would also like to see EDF give Pellegrini a chance to start and give Under a good run out. We want to win games but I think we need to use some of our talented youngsters because they are quality players that can sure impact the side. Ultimately in this game the Likes of Nainggolan, Dzeko,Perotti, De Rossi is just going to be too much fire power for Verona to manage I see this as a very confrontable Roma win. We want to see a very good Roma attack this week id like to see them try and recreate the ruthless attack they had last season as they ran mayhem on the league.
I wonder how much time Florezni and Schick will get if they play but I count on them to make an appearance this weekend. Dzeko is almost going to be an important key to victory but I think Nainggolan will be the player to watch everything will flow through him he will be the catalyst to the Roman attack another and we try to get Dzeko is scoring positions. I also see Juan Jesus as a very important part of the defense in this game he is playing the best football I ever seen him play. If Allison can continue to play at the highest level and Roma can start to get their attack flowing this should be an easy win its important not to underestimate Verona but their quality is just too much for them to handle.
