Leander Dendoncker got behind Bayern’s defence and passed it right in the path Nicolae Stanciu but the forward slipped at the crucial position losing the chance to equalise before half time.
Bayern’s defence seemed shaky again when Sofiane Hanni’s cut-back found Alexandru Chipciu, whose effort rebounded agonisingly off the left-hand upright.
Bayern did have an answer to the questions asked, as the German champions finally doubled their lead in the 65th minute as Thiago slotted home from a excellent low cross from Kimmich.
Niklas Sule scored with a brilliant header only to see his goal being cancelled as the young centre back did foul a Anderlecht player in the process.
