Bengal Beach Soccer Premier League unveils it’s Logo and Mascot, beckons a new era in Beach Sports
The much awaited Bengal Beach Soccer Premier League took one giant stride forward on Monday. The tournament which is going to showcase global beach football stars at the beautiful Tajpur beach in East Midnapore district of Bengal, unveiled it’s Logo and Mascot in a press-meet at Calcutta Press Club on Monday.
The Mascot of BBSPL is named as ‘B’. Both the Logo and the Mascot are designed by Subhadeep Chatterjee, a record holder in Guinness Book and Limca Book of Records. The Logo is designed in the shape of the World Cup Trophy with it representing the imagery of a sea-beach. The official Mascot ‘B’ is a hermit crab which is an indispensible part of the fauna of Tajpur Beach and goes well with the motive.
Madan Mitra, the former Sports Minister of the Govt. of West Bengal who also happens to be the Chief-Patron of the tournament had his say on the nomenclature,”The letter ‘B’ stands for Beach, it initialises the name of the state ‘Bengal’ and the word ‘Ball’ also starts with ‘B'”! Thus this single letter carries the essence of ‘Bengal Beach Soccer’.
Mr. Mitra voiced optimist about this unprecedented project as he said,”Initially Goa was also in consideration, but our infrastructure is in far better condition. It’s a team effort and we are trying our best to make this a grand success.”
Among the exalted presentees at the Press Club was Indian football legend and M.P. Mr. Prasun Banerjee. The former India international who is also the Brand-Ambassador of BBSPL said,”This is a very much appreciated initiative. I am honoured to be a part of it. This tournament is not just about the big names in football, it will create a certain amount of curiosity among the youth and they would love it.”
Arijit Mukherjee, the Working President’s voice seemed blended with confidence and hope as he talked about how a successful first season can lay the path of more such tournaments.
Beach Sports Association is also having plans of organising Beach Tennis and Beach Cricket Tournaments in near future, thus promoting beach sports as a whole which would smoothen the path of Sports-Tourism in this part of the world in near future.
