Manchester City chasing La Masia’s best talent
Manchester City are leading the race to snap up La Masia talent Xavi.
Xavi Simons, 13, is the captain of Barcelona’s U-14 side. Known for his pace, trickery and eye for goal, he has won four young Ballon d’Or consecutively solidifying his immense reputation. The famed La Masia have recently been forced to bid adieu to many of it’s highly rated talents due to lack of clear path for first team action and poor administration, latest of them being La Masia’s 16-year-old Spanish defender Eric Garcia, dubbed “The New Pique”, who joined City earlier this season for £1.7m.
According to Alan Nixon, City are actively pursuing Xavi and right now the front runners for the youngster. Pep Guardiola has always been a fan of La Masia talents and Xavi might be the new one to join the ranks of the former Barcelona player and current Manchester City boss.
Notorious agent Mino Raiola has recently been seen in Spain with Xavi Simons and if they can strike a deal, Xavi could be on the move much earlier than expected.
