Despite Hazard impressing for Belgium with his two substitute appearances against Greece and Gibraltar during the international break, the winger was left on the bench along with Drinkwater. Instead, Conte opted to start Cesc Fabregas – who scored in the 2-0 win over Everton – and Pedro alongside Morata as Willian was also left out of the line-up for the visitors.

Thibaut Courtois’ foul on Jamie Vardy in the area handed Leicester a lifeline, with the striker converting his resulting spot-kick, but the Premier League champions held on for the win. The first goal of Chelsea was because of the great cross provided by Azpilicueta and Morata met the ball perfectly to give Chelsea the lead before the half time.

In the beginning of few minutes of the second half Kante’s shot towards the Leicester goal left everyone surprised when Chelsea doubled their lead. Vardy was fouled by Coutrois in the box and the penalty was given by the referee. Vardy had committed no mistake from the spot and gave Leicester the hope to come back but in the end Chelsea were able to keep the lead.

Davide Zappacosta had come in place Moses, Hazard came in place of Fabregas and Pedro was subbed off to give Willian a chance to play in the second half for Chelsea.

On the other hand, Gray was on for Simani and Andy King came in the place of Albrighton at the beginning of the second half for Leicester. At the end of the second half Ihenchao came to replace James and provide support to Vardy to equalise but that move had gone in vain.
