Srinjoy Bose makes controversial statement on Kolkata Derby and East Bengal
As the Calcutta Football League is slowly reaching its business end, the heat is also charging up among the fans. As it seems, the officials are also not free from the pressure as usual, but when it forces an important club official to make derogatory statements on the footballing structure of the state then that automatically stirs controversy.
Srinjoy Bose, the Secretary of Mohun Bagan AC has made a controversial post today on his timeline. In that post he has posted a meme made by a leading ‘Football-Meme’ page where East Bengal is portrayed highly negatively. IFA is also blamed in that meme indirectly. Not only that, Srinjoy Bose has also termed the prestigious and historical Kolkata Derby as ‘Circus Match’!
‘Yesterday Bagan was halted by Rainbow FC where they managed only 1 point in a 1-1 draw. East Bengal today inspite of trailing initially, came back later to win 2-1 via goals from Al-Amna and Brandon Vanlalremdika. The second goal from Amna came from a penalty which according to a portion of the viewers was not a penalty. The post has arrived soon after the end of the match of the Red and Gold which has also given rise to the question whether the decision has had any immediate impact on Bose making the post.
Such stand from an important club official like Srinjoy Bose who also happens to be the Editor of a leading Bengali daily has become the topic of some heated conversation between both sets of fans recently.
Whether IFA or East Bengal officials makes any move or Bose deletes the post that remains to be seen. But for the moment, the apparently ‘Tasteless’ Facebook post has seemingly done enough to stir controversy.
