FIFA sends letter to IFA regarding ‘Match-fixing’, CFL match under the scanner!
Calcutta Football League comes under the scanner of FIFA. The match between Tollygunge Agragami and Rainbow FC on 25th August in CFL Premier Division Group A was probably fixed, according to FIFA investigating cell.
FIFA has a team named ‘Sports Rader’. The investigating team had information prior to the match that the game between Tollygunge and Rainbow had probably got fixed and Rainbow would lose the match. After the results went according to what they thoight, they took the initiative and made contact with AIFF.
They had sent a letter to AIFF’s integrity officer Javed Siraj regarding this matter. Mr. Javed Siraj had forwarded that letter to the IFA secretary Utpal Ganguly.
While being asked about this issue, IFA Secretary said,” I will discuss this matter and would definitely see that if there is any truth involved in this story. I will call the officials of both the clubs”.
Although the whole issue is currently on the level of investigation, but if the assumptions of FIFA proves to be right then it would not only be a setback for IFA and CFL but would negatify the image of Indian football as a whole in International stage.
