Manchester City closely monitoring Spurs defender.
Premier League club Manchester City has seemed to be closely monitoring Tottenham Hotspur defender and have seemed to be closely looking into his contract situation at Spurs.
The Belgian’s agent has claimed reports of the Belgian wanting to exit the club, his agent claims that Spurs need to offer better terms to keep him at the club or it is just a matter of time before he exits White Hart Lane.
The Citizens are reportedly preparing to pick up the player when the transfer window reopens in January. City, seem to be keeping close tabs on him since signing Kyle Walker for 50 million from Spurs, earlier in the summer transfer window.
Pep Guardiola is personally interested in making the center back his main priority in the next transfer window.
Alderweirld’s current Spurs contract ends in 2019.
The player’s contract also says that there is a fixed clause that will allow him to leave the club for a fee of 25 million.
The former Atletico Madrid player has been a real asset for Spurs and has performed impressively in Spurs’ line of defence, thus Pochettino’s would not want to let Alderweirld leave but if the club receives offers from numerous teams then Spurs will be reluctant to sell him.
On 25th August, Pochettino stated that Spurs would start talking to the Belgian regarding his contract talks
“Today, I was talking for one hour with Toby. He is so happy here. The club now is so busy trying to add more quality to the team.”
The Spurs boss then added that the club chairman, Daniel Levy will be looking to make everyone happy at the club no matter what.
