Sanchez thinks Arsenal have “messed around” his future; vows to never play for the Gunners
Alexis Sanchez has reportedly made up his mind to never play for Arsenal again after the club prevented him from joining Manchester City.
Alexis Sanchez does not want to play for Arsenal again and Manchester City are already drawing up plans to rope in the Chile international in January.
Alexis had already made it clear that he wants to move out of the Emirates Stadium and speculations related to a potential move intensified when the Chile international spoke his mind of playing in the Champions League.
The former Barcelona star had been on the radar of many ‘biggies’ of Europe, most notably being on the radar of Manchester City, PSG and Bayern Munich this summer as he stalls on signing a new contract, with just a year to run on his current deal.
Sources close to the player have indicated that Alexis had already made his feelings known to the Gunners before a £60 million deadline day move to City fell through.
According to reports in England, Sanchez feels Arsenal have “messed around” with his future, and that he has no motivation to play for them. According to Goal, members of the forward’s inner circle have told them that he does not believe Arsenal have what it takes to compete at the top level.
Though it remains to be seen whether he will carry out his threat and go on strike or not, Manchester City are now likely to come out of this battle as the winners as they have assured the player of a move in the winter-transfer window.
City, along with PSG, have been chasing Sanchez all summer and were the firm favourites to rope in the 28-year-old Chile international after PSG secured the services of their key target Neymar and opted to move out of the ‘Alexis Deal’.
It is believed that they had also struck a £60m deal on the deadline day, only for the move to collapse when the Gunners failed to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco.
According to several reports, Sanchez was convinced that he would sign for City on deadline day and had even told his Chile team-mates about the move on Thursday morning.
Not for the first time this summer, Alexis had told Arsene Wenger that he wanted to leave following Sunday’s defeat at Liverpool, and after his hopes of joining City were dashed he is now said to be both furious and devastated.
City had reportedly convinced Sanchez by offering him a large signing-on fee in addition to a £3,00,000-a-week salary and the deadline day disaster means that the Citizens have to work hard again to please Alexis for a move to the Etihad Stadium.
City CEO Ferran Soriano and director of football Txiki Begiristain have struck up a good relationship with Felicevich in recent months and that could prove crucial in deciding the Chilean’s fate.
