Sourav Ganguly co-owned team signs their 3rd foreigner for the 4th edition of Hero ISL
23-year old Conor Thomas who has regularly represented English national team in various age groups will play for the Kolkata franchise in the upcoming Hero Indian Super League.
Two-time Indian Super League (ISL) champions ATK on Wednesday roped in English midfielder Conor Thomas ahead of the fourth season, both Thomas and his new club have confirmed the switch via social media. Thomas last played for 4th tier English Club Swindon Town. Formerly a Coventry City man he has been a part of the Premier League club Liverpool on loan as well.
It is not known whether a fee was involved to take the 23-year-old to India. In total, Thomas made 40 appearances for Town, scoring one goal a stoppage time winner in a 1-0 victory over Millwall at the County Ground back in March.
“A strong midfielder, Thomas will add support to the team. We at ATK welcome Thomas to don the ATK colours. We wish him all the success and I hope we will get to see fine quality football,” ATK principal owner Sanjiv Goenka said.
“Being a part of ATK will be a great experience for me. I am looking forward to a great experience under the able guidance of coach Teddy Sheringham and Technical Director Ashley Westwood,” Thomas added.
This young midfielder will surely become one of the assets for the Kolkata franchise in upcoming future and hopefully will contribute something special to Indian football.
