Serie A: Juventus vs Cagliari Match Preview
Juventus will be very keen to get off the mark with a victory against Cagliari in the opening fixture, after the defeat they had to face against Lazio in Supercoppa.
Date: Saturday, 19 August 2017
Kick-Off: 17:00 UK, 21:30 IST
Venue: Allianz Stadium (Turin).
Massimo Allegri’s men will look to break the shackles of their lacklustre form in Pre-season and will definitely look for redemption in the opening fixture of their title defence against Cagliari. Allegri is very confident with the new bunch of players he has recruited and is looking forward to another successful season for the Bianconeri.
Juve are at full strength, apart from Marko Pjaca who misses out through injury. New signing Douglas Costa is set to start.
Massimo Rastelli’s men finished last season in 11th. Considering that the Rossoblu were back in the top flight after being relegated at the end of the 2014/2015 season that was a pretty impressive outcome. They were largely spearheaded by the efforts of veteran striker Marco Borriello, who netted 16 goals in Serie A and 20 across all competitions, but arguably their Achilles’ heel was none other than their horribly leaky defense, which saw them concede 76 goals.
Cagliari are at full strength, and they are set to start with two up front in a diamond formation.
Juventus: Buffon; Sandro, Chiellini, Benatia, Sciglio; Khedira, Pjanic; Mandzukic, Dybala, Costa; Higuain
Cagliari: Cragno; Padoin, Pisacane, Andreolli, Miangue; Barella, Cigarini, Ionita; Pedro; Sau, Borriello
