Guardiola’s mystery centre-back revealed and it’s shocking!!!
West Brom captain Jonny Evans has turned out to be a shock target for Manchester City.
Manchester City have popped up as an admirer of the 29-year-old Northern Ireland international. Evans has plenty of experience under his belt thanks to his 9-year stint with City’s arch rivals Manchester United and currently with West Brom.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has already hinted at a centre-back signing this summer. The speculations were intensifying after a series of names had been doing rounds at the Etihad including Inigo Martinez, Javi Martinez, Jerome Boateng, Virgil van Dijk and Ben Gibson. But now it’s almost certain that Evans is the mystery man as a number of high-profile, reliable sources are reporting the same.
Sky Sports first reported City’s interest on Evans. Simon Stones of BBC further added that City have been in talks with West Brom from the last couple of weeks but no agreement has reached. James Ducker of Telegraph suggested City have seen an initial bid of £18m rejected by West Brom. Finally, Sam Lee of Goal reported that City have already agreed personal terms with Evans and are hopeful of concluding the deal before transfer window shuts down.
Evans won three Premier League and two League Cup titles with Manchester United making a total of 198 appearances for them. He left the club in 2015 for West Brom after being frozen out under then Reds’ boss Louis Van Gaal. West Brom have reportedly rejected Arsenal’s offer for Evans last season and also Leicester’s £10m bid this summer. Although West Brom are reluctant to part way with their captain, a bid of around £25m could be too tempting an offer to refuse for them.
