Date: Sunday, 13th August 2017
Kick off at 16:00 UK/ 17:00 CET/ 20:30 IST
Venue: Old Trafford.
The new campaign of the premier league for Jose Mourinho’s men kick-off at Old Trafford as they battle against West ham in the season’s opener. The Red Devils are one of the contenders for the title this year as they look up to overturn their 6th place finish last time out. Manchester United secured the league cup and booked a berth in the Champions league after winning the Europa League in Mourinho’s first tenure with the club. This time the target will be the Pl title along with European journeys.
On the other hand, West Ham United are in pursuit of top 10 finish after a disappointing last season. Slaven Bilic’s side, however, will be much benefitted with their summer arrivals. One of those new signings will be a familiar face making his return to the English top flight. The Mexican goal machine, Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez will face his former club where he began his trademark success under the guidance of Sir Alex Furguson.
After a fruitful pre-season in the U.S, United faced defeat at Macedonia in the Uefa Super Cup at the hands of Real Madrid. But that game showed marks of improvement in United’s style of play.
Manchester United will be hoping for the best this season with Mourinho bringing on new lads to the squad. Romelu Lukaku, who netted 23 goals with Everton last time out, will be the featured man up front. Having already made an impact in Red’s shirt, he will look to hit the ground running in the Premier League. A new addition to the defence in the form of Victor Lindelof will be there to subdue those defensive issues.
Nemanja Matic has left Chelsea to receive guidance from his former boss, Jose Mourinho. He is one of the fabulous addition because he is the right person to partner Pogba and Herrera in the midfield. All will be given their debuts in this game. Phil Jones and Eric Baily are available in the defence. Ander Herrera will get the start along with Henrick Mkhitaryan.
West Ham’s new faces include Joe Hart on loan from Man City, Marko Arnautovic and full-back Pablo Zabaleta. Hart will be testing his gloves against his rival club once again after returning for Torino with his City future still moulding. Zabaleta will fire-up the right back area to get on the crosses awaited by Marko Arnautovic, signing from Stoke and Javier Hernandez. However, game-maker Lanzini and forward Andy Carrol will be missing through injury.
But Andre Ayew will start and strengthen the upfront for the London club.
