Courtois, Morata miss penalties as Arsenal win Community Shield for the 15th time
Arsenal vs Chelsea, Community Shield 2017: Arsenal and Chelsea were locked at 1-1 after 90 minutes. In the penalty shoot out, Arsenal edged their fellow Londoners 4-1 on penalties.
FA Cup winners Arsenal beat Premier League champions Chelsea to win the Community Shield on penalties after Thibaut Courtois and Alvaro Morata missed spot-kicks in a shootout at Wembley.
The Gunners had the better of a largely forgettable first-half, although Chelsea felt they should have had a penalty when Willian appeared to be tripped by Hector Bellerin. Instead the Brazilian was shown a yellow card for simulation.
Pedro’s rash challenge on Elneny’s calf got him his second yellow of the game which was converted into a red. Chelsea appeared destined to win, through Victor Moses’ goal, but exactly at 81 minutes, Arsenal were level.Cesc Fabregas was caught playing everybody onside and summer signing Sead Kolasinac powered a header beyond Thibaut Courtois.
Full-time: Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea.

Chelsea tried to sign Kolasinac last January but instead he punished them by scoring the equaliser as he met Granit Xhaka’s free-kick following Pedro’s foul. The Bosnian appears a fine acquisition for Arsenal.
It was the first English football match which followed the ABBA penalty shootout and Arsenal prevailed 4-1 to extend their winning record at Wembley to nine straight games, including two in penalty shootouts.
