Team News

Dortmund: Pre-Season wasn’t a great success for Borussia Dortmund as they lost to teams like Rot-Weiss Essen, Espanyol and Atalanta though their Asia tour wasn’t a failure as they defeated J League side Urawa Diamond’s and Italian giant AC Milan there.

Though injuries didn’t stop coming, vice-captain Marcel Schmelzer got injured in their Pre-Season match against 4th tier german side Rot-Weiss Essen and Raphael Guerreiro is still sidelined due to his Confederations Cup injury alongwith Marco Reus, Julian Weigl, Mario Gotze and Andre Schuerrle.

Shinji Kagawa and Sebastian Rode also remain as a doubts for this fixture. All those injured players may return in September or October, so Dortmund will have to make do without them. Transfer Window is quite a success for Dortmund till now as they didn’t lose any important players to rival’s, though Matthias Ginter and Sven Bender were realeased and they went to Gladbach and Bayer Leverkusen respectively. They also bought Maximillian Philipp, Mahoud Dahoud and Omer Toprak in return. It remains to be seen if the new signings make appearance in the Der Klassiker.

Possible Lineup – Dortmund (4-3-3): Burki; Piszczek – Bartra – Sokratis – Passlack ; Sahin – Dahoud – Castro ; Dembele – Aubameyang – Pulisic.

Bayern: In one word Pre-Season was a ‘disaster’ for the Bavarians. It started pretty well as they won against two 4th-5th tier german sides and it continued till the Telekom Cup as they defeated Hoffenheim and Werder Bremen in two 45min games in oneday format, which starts from Semi-Final.

But later on when they went to International Champions Cup things became worse, first they got defeated at the hands of Arsenal in Penalty shootout then lost against AC Milan, though they got a narrow victory over Chelsea but again got defeated against Inter Milan.

Bad luck didn’t end there as few days earlier they again got defeated against Liverpool and Napoli in Audi Cup in the their home ground. More bad news is that Bayern will not have the services of new signing James Rodriguez for 4-6 weeks as he is out injured alongwith Juan Bernat, Arjen Robben, Jerome Boateng, Thiago Alcantara, David Alaba and Manuel Neuer. Bayern will hope things doesn’t get worse than this.

Possible Lineup – Bayern (4-2-3-1): Ulreich; Kimmich – Javi Martinez – Hummels – Marco Friedl ; Vidal – Rudy ; Coman – Muller – Ribery ; Lewandowski .
