The new ‘Galacticos’ of Mizoram keep their fierce form on in the Independence Cup
Great Sports Independence Day Football Cup 2017 is slowly reaching the business end of it as the teams are also slowly peaking to their best. Both the matches today were high scoring encounters as Chanmari West and Chhinga Veng, the new ‘Galacticos’ of Mizo football thrash their opponents.
Chanmari West FC beat Rhino Charge 5-2 in their second group match today grabbing their first 3 points in the tournament.
The West Warriors took an early two goal lead as Calvin Zosiamliana scored twice in the opening 7 minutes. They grabbed their third before halftime through Lallianzama.
Rhino Charge pulled one back throuh L. Zama after the restart but Chanmari West FC struck again with goals from Vanlalthlamuana and Lalromawia.
Jessy Sailo then scored a second for Rhino Charge three minutes from time.
The second match of the day saw Chhinga Veng FC score five in three consecutive matches as they beat Chanmari FC 5-1 in a resounding victory.
The MFA Super Cup champions were 3 goal up by halftime with a strike Malsawmfela and a brace from MS Dawngliana.
Laldampuia made it four in the second half and added their fifth 11 minutes after Rochhingpuia scored a consolation goal for Chanmari FC from the spot.
