Smoke over Aurier’s transfer to United
Ivory Coast international Serge Aurier set to become Jose Mourinho’s latest signing.
PSG full-back Serge Aurier is nearing a move to Manchester United after it’s been reported that the Ivorian has agreed to personal terms with Jose Mourinho’s side. Several newspapers reported on Wednesday that United were set to pay £27m for the Ivory Coast international’s services despite his ban from entering the UK. But the Ivorian is currently banned from entering the UK after being convicted of assault, with a hearing scheduled for August 7, which could cancel out the transfer.

24-year-old was found guilty of assaulting a police officer outside a Paris nightclub in September last year. Aurier has since appealed against the conviction and has a hearing scheduled for August 7 to determine whether or not his travel ban has been lifted. Auier leaving PSG doesn’t come as a surprise after the recent signing of Dani Alves from Italian champions Juventus.
Mourinho still wants a few new faces before the season kicks off in a fortnight and it is also understood that United are not currently pursuing other targets and may have to offload some players before allowing any other arrivals. While United wrapped up the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea on Monday, but Mourinho has been knocked back in his pursuit of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic after boss Luciani Spalletti claimed: “The topic is over.”
