When you talk of Goa the things which come to your mind are sun, sand & Football. Goa has always been a football crazy state with Football being the official sport of Goa.

In the past, we could see the Fatorda Stadium being fully filled with true football fans cheering for their teams in the I-LEAGUE. Goa has seen a drastic decline in Fans attending the I-LEAGUE matches. Even though u can see the maximum crowd for a local football tournament. The national tournament has seen a huge decline.

The 4-year-old ISL has attracted a huge crowd to the stadium but the question is do they really support Football? Or they just go to the stadium for selfies, to see stars & the players.

Goa is set to a host the first ever Football World Cup to be held in India but has seen a poor turnout in the online tickets sale with the fans insisting tickets to be sold in counters as they prefer buying tickets from the counters than online.

It looks like Goan Football is dying a slow death. Having no representative in the AIFF for the first time. The India U-17 World Cup Squad does not have a single Goan Footballer due to miss communication between AIFF & GFA being the reason no talented youngsters could attend the trials.
