The Bosnian has won 6 Bundesliga titles with the Bavarians and also has a Champions League trophy to his name during his time at the club.

Hasan Salihamidzic has taken up the position left vacant by Mathias Sammer due to health issues. He was announced as Bayern’s new Sporting Director at the Press Conference on Monday.

Salihamidzic won six Bundesliga titles and one Champions League trophy in 2001 in more than 350 appearances for Bayern between 1998 and 2007.

Bayern has operated without a Sporting Director since Mathias Sammer stepped down from the post due to ill health. But now they have appointed Hasan Salihamidzic who has a good relationship with the club President Uli Hoeness.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said at a press conference:

“With Hasan, we get someone who knows Bayern, who has worked here as a pro, He’s extremely hard-working, always giving 100 per cent.
He hasn’t signed his contract yet, but it will run until 2020.
He’ll be responsible for the football, he’s the link between coach and team, coach and club, scouting, youth academy.”

There has been speculations that the post will go to Philipp Lahm but the right back wanted to take some time away from the game as he has retired at the end of last season.
