Arsenal lift Emirates Cup despite losing to Sevilla
Alexandre Lacazette scored his first home goal as Arsenal lost to Sevilla but retained the Emirates Cup.
Ángel Correa and Steven N’Zonzi scored for the Spanish club but the Gunners won the four-club tournament despite losing 2-1, thanks to a points system which rewards goal-scoring.
The Gunners hammered Benfica 5-2 on Saturday while Sevilla managed a 1-0 victory against RB Leipzig in their opening game.
While the strange format meant Arsenal won the title, it also led to bizarre scenes after the game. Instead of the usual triumphant scenes, the celebrations of the English side were incredibly subdued.
Arsenal will start their actual 2017-18 campaign on 6th August when they face Chelsea in the Community Shield.
