For the better part of the summer, we’ve been on Thomas Lemar watch. He’s been one of Arsenal’s top transfer targets ever since talk of transfers started taking over our minds following the opening of the transfer window. Even as rumours of other players coming and going have occupied thoughts, the possibility of Arsenal signing Lemar has almost always been at the top of the list since the summer transfer window officially opened up.
According to reports in England, Arsenal are just ‘one step away’ from securing the services of Lemar. The Gunners, who have been desperate to land the French international, have reportedly struck gold in Lemar’s case with a bid of £45m.The report claims Lemar has already agreed his wages and personal terms with the Gunners.
Monaco originally valued Lemar at £80m and had hoped that fee would put the Gunners off. But Arsene Wenger has been determined to push a deal through and Lemar’s desire to move to north London has left Monaco with no choice but to sell.
Lemar, who netted 14 goals in all competitions last term for Monaco, is a highly versatile player, holding the ability to play on both the flanks and through the centre too.
Lemar, who starred in Monaco’s pre-season friendly against Benfica, is likely to complete a move to Arsenal before PSG take on the Ligue 1 champions on Saturday.
The Gunners previously signed Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac and thus addressed the long-existing Striker and Left-back issue of the club. With the arrival of versatile Thomas Lemar, Arsene Wenger’s men will surely be one of the contenders of the upcoming EPL if everything clicks at the right time.
