East Bengal to play 2 friendlies ahead of their CFL opener
East Bengal coach Khalid Jamil wants his side to play a couple of matches before their opener in the CFL Premier Division title defence next month.
“I am thinking of playing two practice games before our first match in the league. Hopefully, I’ll have all the players at my disposal by next week,” Jamil said after Thursday’s training session at the club ground.
East Bengal’s new recruit, Syrian playmaker Mahmoud Al Amna is scheduled to arrive on Saturday. Willis Plaza and Carlyle Mitchell are expected to join next week. Goalkeeper Luis Barreto joined the team on Thursday and is expected to take the field from the moment possible.
Meanwhile, legendary Indian striker I.M. Vijayan’s son-in-law, Abdul Adil, went through the second day of trials under Jamil.
The former Mumbai FC and Aizawl FC coach urged his players to give their best while playing under him and asked them to work hard to achieve positive results and success. He also told the reporters that he is not thinking about the I-League and is only concentrating on the Red and Gold’s first match of the season.
