Manchester City inching closer to a move for Spanish goalie
Pep Guardiola is seriously considering adding Pepe Reina to his disposal
The 34-year-old Napoli goalie has vast amount of experience under his belt having played for the likes of Barcelona, Villarreal, Liverpool and Bayern Munich. Previously he has played under Guardiola for one season at Bayern Munich being the deputy of Manuel Neuer. It is his 9 years tenure at Liverpool which is now tempting Guardiola to make a move for him.
Rumours are circulating that Napoli have already rejected an initial bid of £2.5m from City for the former Spanish international and will only let him go for anything around £4.5m.
Guardiola, in his very first season at the Etihad, bought Claudio Bravo from FC Barcelona. But a series of dismal performances put a serious question mark over his future. If City can pull off a deal for Reina, that could well be the final nail on the coffin for Bravo.
Manchester City have already coughed up £35m for Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson this season, making him the second most expensive goalie of all time. Reina, if arrives at the Etihad would have to play second fiddle to Ederson. Considering his age, Reina might fancy such a role in City who are expected to produce a big statement both in England and Europe this season.
Manchester City are close to signing Pepe Reina with an expectation an agreement can be reached in the coming days. [@TelegraphDucker]
