Bagan striker Balwant Singh signs up for ISL Draft
Mohun Bagan striker Balwant turned down a massive offer from the I-League runners up and joined the list of players who had signed up for Indian Super League player draft which is to be held on 23rd July 2017.
The thirty-year-old forward from Punjab had previous stints with Indian super league outfit Chennaiyin FC, on loan from Mohun Bagan. Balwant made sixteen appearances for the Mariners during the recently concluded I-League, also scored four goals in the process.
The Punjabi ace also turned out for JCT, Salgaocar and Churchill brothers during his career. The forward also won the FPAI Indian Player of the Year award for his goal scoring exploits with Churchill Brothers during the 2013-14 season.
Earlier players had the chance to play in both leagues due to its flexible fixture. Since the new format has been implemented both the leagues will be running parallel from this season onwards.
