Though it was Rainbow AC who took the lead first but the Black Panthers fought back and goals from Nigerian defender Richard Agwu Somtochukwu and striker Manandeep Singh ensured victory for the Black Panthers.
MSC boss and former National team striker Biswajit Bhattacharya played in a 4-4-2 formation and substituted/rotated his squad with more than 20 players throughout the game.
Mohammedan SC were controlling the game since the 1st whistle and were using the flanks pretty well. Within 1st 20 minutes they missed two clear-cut opportunities through Manandeep and Sheikh Faiaz. But that wasn’t the case for Rainbow AC as they managed to take the lead against the run of play as the Black Panthers were pressing too high up and a defensive error caused them to concede first.
Now a shocked Mohammedan team tried to come back and they could have also but Shoaib Syed’s shot punched off the post in the relief of Rainbow AC. First half ends though Mohammedan dominated but scoreline suggested something else.
Now 2nd half begins and bursting all cylinder like situation Mohammedan went for the equalizer and it paid off as Nigerio defender Richard headed home his first goal this season from a corner.
1-1 it was and a rejuvenated MSC grew in confidence and attacked like blood hounds in order to take the lead and this time it’s Manandeep Singh. A solo effort from the centre of the field darting forward to the Rainbow AC goal before delivering a hefty drive to add his name to the scorers list. It was a great goal in true sence. 2-1 it was and in a bit the referee blew the Final whistle. Victory it was for the Black Panthers.
