AIFF allows clubs to field foreign players in youth leagues
In a surprising decision, The All India Football Federation has allowed clubs and academies to field foreign players in U15 youth leagues and U13 baby league.
AIFF started U15 league two years ago, following the wide reception the youth leagues had received across the country, the governing body of football had decided to start U13 Baby league from this year onwards. The participating teams were allowed to field only Indian players in the league last year.
In the official statement issued by AIFF said
“the clubs and academies can register a maximum of three Foreign/OCI/PIO players after completing required formalities mentioned in FIFA regulations on status and transfer of players. The clubs can include them in their total squad of 30 players for U13 and U15 youth Leagues.”
The decision was ratified by AIFF Executive committee in their last meeting.
