PSG hijack City’s bid for Dani Alves
Paris Saint-Germain have made a last-minute hijack to land Dani Alves at the Parc des Princes according to reports from France.
The former Barcelona right-back left Nou Camp last season to join Italian giants Juventus. He had a successful season with Juventus but he mutually terminated his contract to play in another league fuelling speculations about a move to Manchester City owing to his desire to play in the Premier League and join former coach Pep Guardiola.
Alves to City was done according to many reports and only because of his ongoing vacation an official announcement was delayed. He was due to arrive in Manchester this monday according to latest reports but it looks like PSG have snatched the 34-year-old Brazilian international from the clutches of City.
Rumours of Alves going to PSG have surfaced the French media today with Le10 Sport being the first one to publish the ongoing meeting between PSG officials and Alves’ representatives. Then French tv show L’Equipe Mercato went one step ahead to suggest Alves has decided to ditch Manchester City to join PSG. L’Equipe’s report was further backed by Le Parisien, known to be fairly reliable for PSG related news. Journalist Duncan Castle has also reported Alves has verbally committed himself to PSG.
On the other hand, Bruno Andrade of Goal Brazil understands a contact has been made from PSG but Alves will join City and will be announced this week.
With deal for Walker set to be dragged on and Mendy & Bertrand far from conclusion, the full back areas might be set to haunt the Etihad outfit again this season.
