Germany international moves to Stamford Bridge on a 5 year deal
Antonio Rüdiger will be wearing the number 2 jersey as he joins Chelsea FC from AS Roma for £34m.
Chelsea Football Club have officially announced the signing of the Germany International in their club`s website. The defender has been given a five year contract and he will be wearing the number 2 jersey for the Blues this season.
Rudiger said: ‘It’s a great feeling because not every player has the opportunity to join a huge club like this.
‘I am looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and I’m very proud to officially become a Chelsea player.’
The agents involved in the deal had arrived in the capital city yesterday to negotiate and finalize the terms and conditions between the two clubs and the agreed fee could reportedly rise upto £34m for the former Stuttgart defender.
The 24 year old Germany international had already agreed on personal terms with the Premier League club while he was on his national team`s duty at the Confederations Cup in Russia.
Chelsea have failed to land their main striker target as Romelu Lukaku has finally decided to join Manchester United and get reunited with his former manager which has added more frustration at the Chelsea camp. This major signing must have provided some relief to to transfer woes of the club following the recent activities.

Technical Director Michael Emenalo quoted:
‘We are pleased to be able to bring in a player of proven quality who adds to our defensive options.
‘Antonio is still young but is experienced at club and international level and possesses all the requisite attributes to thrive in the Premier League. We have been aware of him for some time and we are confident he will fit in well with the squad.’
Rudiger spent his last two seasons in Rome playing for the serie A giants and has been a regular starter either on the right flank or at the heart of the defence.

He can play both as a central defender and a right full back, thus providing ample depth to Chelsea`s defence and Conte`s back three system might hand him the right central back position and compete with the Danish international for a spot in the starting eleven.
