French outfit PSG signs Spanish left-back Yuri Berichiche for £11.5millon from Spanish side Real Sociedad.

PSG said in a statement on Friday that Berichiche signed for them to a 5-year contract which will run until 2022.

PSG were looking for a replacement for Maxwell (left back) who retired at the end of the previous season. Now they got one, but Berchiche will be competing with Layvin Kurzawa for a starting spot.

Yuri Berichiche (27) had a fairly good season with Real Sociedad in La Liga 2016-17, the team finished 6th in the table and earned themselves a Europa League spot this season.

Berchiche was a key player of the team who played 35 matches in La Liga, scoring 3 goals and delivering 4 assists.

PSG will surely be delighted to have his services next season as they try to revamp themselves after a not so good campaign last season. Though they won Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue but finished runners-up in Ligue 1 and got knocked out by Barcelona in Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League in what was one of the most epic clashes in the history of the competition.

This was PSG’s first signing of the season, but they already sold 20-year-old forward Jean-Kevin Augustin to RB Leipzig for £11.5million. Now the club is engaged in a battle with Spanish giants Barcelona, who want Marco Verrati. Reportedly Verratti wants to leave PSG but they don’t want to let him go.
