Lionel Messi set to sign a new contract with Barcelona
According to several Spanish outlet, Lionel Messi is set to sign a new contract with Barcelona, once he returns from vacation.
Messi’s current contract is set to expire in June, 2018. Spanish radio station Cadena COPE says that an announcement will be made by the club on Wednesday, with Messi officially signing on July 15, once he arrives in Barcelona for the pre-season campaign.

The new contract is set to keep the 30-year-old
at the Nou Camp until 2021, with the option of an additional year, should the club and the player wish to exercise it. Messi, however, will be able to leave Barça earlier if any other club wishes to trigger his new release clause – thought to be around €300 million.
Messi is currently on vacation following his recent wedding to childhood sweetheart Antonella Roccuzzo. His father, Jorge Messi and Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu are reportedly sorting out the final details of the deal. On Tuesday, both parties were said to have arrived at a total agreement and the deal was said to be finalized.
Barcelona have previously expressed their wish to extend Messi’s with club Vice-President Jordi Mestre confirming in May that the renewal was “on track”.
