John Terry: Chelsea Have Better Youngsters Than Monaco
Chelsea has a large youth academy and their Under-18 team won the Premier League for their age group during the 2016-17 season, also winning the FA Youth Cup.The youngsters also won the UEFA Youth League in 2015 and 2016 against the likes of Real Madrid and PSG.
John Terry who signed for Championship side Aston Villa earlier this week is very much confident with Chelsea’s academy graduates and thinks they are at the same level as the champions league semi-finalist and Ligue 1 title winning side Monaco.
“When I came through I was given five or six games to find my feet and probably wasn’t even ready then. But we have got so many at Chelsea who are ready.”
“Our boys are good enough, they just need the opportunity. Either that or they need to back themselves and go out on loan.”
“Monaco have a couple and everybody’s saying how good they are – believe me, we’ve got better players at Chelsea.”
Nathan Ake, who was recalled from his loan spell at Bournemouth midway through the 2016-17 season, has joined the Cherries permanently for £20m, while Dominic Solanke signed for Liverpool, Bertrand Traore left for Lyon and Tammy Abraham is on loan at Swansea.
