West Block Blue Awards Ceremony was organised where the contribution of the BFC fans and their involvement were recognised.

The award ceremony was a bit unique and a bit offbeat compared to other mainstream award functions.

Some of the categories of the award function were enough surprising but at the same time amusing, which added to the community feeling of the West Block Blues. Some of the awards that were given away are as follows:

●Best Matchday night award: BFC V JDT, AFC Cup Semi-final.

●’Goal of the Season’ award: CK Vineeth’s 2nd goal against Mohun Bagan in Federation Cup final.

●Best banner of the season award: ‘Joker’ banner on the first matchday of I-League.

●Best chant of the season award: “My heart goes Juananan, Juananan….

●Kunal Majgoankar award for the next best media manager: Aakash Vinay.

●Smooth operator award: Rosewall Da Cunha.

●Robin Singh award for the best hashtag: Nisarg Vasisht.

●Best banter award: Aakash Vinay.

Besides all these unique categories there were some more categories also in the award function which were at the same time a bit offending and witty. They had categories by the names of English players but not for so positive reasons. For example the ‘Robbie Savage Award’ to one of the fans for blatantly taking on Bengalee fans (East Bengal and Mohun Bagan) in one of the WB TV episodes or the ‘Danny Drinkwater Award’ for a fan for ‘being consistently drunk in all match days”!

The West Block Blues also recognised the photographers who took beautiful snaps of the fans in the gallery and the drum-beaters who kept the decibels at Kanteerava high during match days. Ex-BFC player and India international Robin Singh also had a video message which was shown in between the programme.

In a nutshell, the ceremony was carried out in a mood where the BFC faithful gathered to have a cool Sunday evening. The West Block Blues, who undoubtedly have paved the path of a professional approach of supporting a team in Indian football, have left a touch of professionalism in a mould of wit in their award function as well.
