Goa Football Association lifts the ban on 46 players
A few days ago, the news of Goa Football Association imposing ban on 46 footballers created shock-waves in Indian football circuit. The players were accused of playing in non-registered leagues in Goa for several local clubs.
But, the association has lifted the ban yesterday after all the 46 players issued a statement of unconditional apology to GFA. The players will be given respite after being fined a sum of INR five thousand as declared by the executive committee of GFA.
A press-release by GFA read:”In a major decision, the Executive committee of the GFA which met today under the Chairmanship of the President Elvis Gomes considered the unconditional apology offered by the 46 senior players who are donning colours for various clubs in the state for having played in unregistered tournaments and lifted the suspension of these players by levying a penalty of Rs. 5,000/- each.”
Officials claim that the players were relieved as it was their first time of mistake. Any repeatition will lead to long time ban or strong disciplinary actions taken against the players.
