FPAI and MFA meet on a press-conference ahead of today’s charity match at Aizawl
A press conference was held yesterday afternoon for the exhibition match between FPAI XI and Mizoram XI. FPAI president Rennedy Singh as well as former Newcastle United and Sunderland striker Michael Chopra and former India captains Deepak Mondal and Subrata Paul spoke to the media about today’s match as well as the FPAI.
FPAI president Rennedy Singh said the FPAI is glad to be coming to Mizoram and have the FPAI Awards as well as playing an exhibition match in order to help victims of the recent natural disasters in Mizoram.
Michael Chopra, reprensenting the FPAI XI, also said “The progress of Mizoram in Indian football made us want to come and play here. We want to play with Mizo player in front of Mizo football fans.”
The FPAI Awards will also be given out during halftime of the exhibition match.
“This event is jointly organised by the FPAI and the MFA. The FPAI has made the decision to donate all the proceeds to the victims of recent tragedies in Mizoram.” said Mr. Lalnghinglova Hmar, Honorary secretary of the MFA.
Mizo veteran and representative of Mizoram XI S. Malsawmtluanga (Mama) said,”We invite all the Mizo people to come and see this match. We love football and now we’re using football to help the victims of recent tragedies. And we ask Mizo football fans to take part in lending a helping hand.”
The FPAI and Mizoram XI match will take place today at 2:30 PM at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. Pre-match entertainment programme will start from 1:30 PM.
Tickets are priced at Rs. 100/- and Rs. 200/- and will still be available from 11:00 AM at Zero Point.
