Former Pune FC Cadet Rashid joins Mohammedan sporting
With just weeks away from the start of new season of Calcutta Football League, Mohammedan Sporting Club had started their preparations early on. The giants from kolkota have signed former Pune FC cadet Rashid to strengthen their Goalkeeping department.
The 22 year old from Kerala is one of the best young talents the state has produced recently. Rashid’s footballing career started when he was called up to represent Malappuram U-13 side in 2004. He soon joined MSP School and later G V Raja sports school where he honed his skills to be a better player. In the subsequent year he joined Jharkand SAIL academy and his performances there earned his call to BBFS and later to Pune FC.
The goalkeeper has won the best performer award with SAIL academy in All India Inter Academy championship and also participated in U-19 I-league.. Making his name as a professional footballer Rashid is indebted to many for gifting him a good career especially his brother Basim, his coaches and his friends Farshad, Prajeesh and Nishad. All of them has helped and supported financially and mentally during his struggling years.
It is learnt that Rashid has signed one year contract with Mohammedans Sporting despite having good offers from other clubs. He joined the club’s training camp yesterday.
