Antonio Lopez Habas set to return to ISL at the helm of Pune
ISL franchise FC Pune City are on their way to extend the contract with their Spanish manager Antonio Lopez Habas. According to sources, the former Sevilla defender will remain at the hotseat of the Pune franchise in the upcoming season of ISL also.
Habas is having his contract with the Rajesh Wadhawan Group owned franchise untill 31st December. But as there is every probability of ISL this season extending next year, the authority has decided to extend the contract with the former ATK boss. They will also take his inputs while purchasing players in the ISL draft and especially during selection of the foreign players.
Habas came into the limelight of Indian football as the coach of Atletico de Kolkata where he gave the club the much coveted trophy in its first year. In the second season also he took the franchise to the knockouts.
But the former Valencia and Tenerife head coach failed to make any change in fortunes for the Pune side as they fell short of the last four for the third season in a row. Habas replaced David Platt as the manager of Pune and Platt came as a replacement of Franco Colomba. All the three managers have a stunning similarity of 28.57 percent winning percentage at the tenure of the club.
Although the deal is yet not confirmed but it is a matter of time that Pune would announce the Spaniard as the man at the helm of them for the next season. And thus, Antonio Lopez Habas is set to become the first manager to feature in all the four editions of the Indian Super League.
