Chelsea FC officially announce their first major summer signing: Willy Caballero
The Premier League champions completed the signing of the Argentine goalkeeper on a free transfer
The 35-year-old veteran goalkeeper becomes the first major signing of the Premier League champions this summer. His contract with Manchester City expired at midnight last night and thus Chelsea roped in without any further delay.

The Argentine told Chelsea’s website:
‘I am very happy to join Chelsea, the champions of England. I am looking forward to meeting the guys and helping the club achieve more success in the coming season,’

Caballero, the former Boca Juniors trainee made his name during his tenure in Spain with Elche and Malaga was the preferred first choice goalkeeper of Pep Guardiola last season as Claudio Bravo was dropped due to his poor performances. He joined Man City in 2014 from Malaga and helped his former Premier League side to win the League Cup in 2016.
Chelsea FC`s technical director, Michael Emenalo, said:
‘We are very happy to have Willy on board.He knows the Premier League and is tried and tested at the top of the game. ‘We have three experienced goalkeepers and we look forward to welcoming him to the club when the squad returns to pre-season training.’

Caballero, who is set to become the second choice goalkeeper and a perfect replacement of Asmir Begovic who joined the Cherries for more match time has signed a 1-year contract with the Premier League champions and will be a free agent next season.
Chelsea are now expected to follow up Caballero’s arrival and Nike`s new deal with the signing of French midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and Germany international Antonio Rüdiger.
