Germany International to jet off for medical in London after Confederations Cup Final.

With Antonio Conte and Chelsea fans all around the globe getting frustrated over the lack of transfer activities from the reigning English champions, finally, some signs of rapid business is set to be done after the summer transfer window officially opens on July 01. Reports from some reliable London and Rome-based sources suggest that Chelsea FC have reached an agreement with AS Roma for a potential deal of worth €38m (£33.3m) for Antonio Rüdiger.

The Germany international is expected to arrive in London to complete a medical next week after the conclusion of the Confederations Cup final against Chile on Sunday.

The London club have offered him a 5-year contract and he`s expected to earn around €4m (£3.5m) a season.

Antonio Rudiger, a versatile defender who is primarily a centre-back but can also be deployed as right back was a long-term target of Chelsea FC during his stint at VfB Stuttgart but then AS Roma lured him on loan and made the deal permanent as he was officially signed on 30th May 2016 with a 4 year contract for €9 million + €0.5m bonuses.

Antonio Conte was eager to reunite with the Juventus central defender Leanardo Bonucci but the Serie A giants rejected all the bids as their gaffer suggested Bonucci is set to be their future skipper and will spearhead the backline in the upcoming seasons.

Chelsea FC were also interested in signing the Saints` centre-back Virgil van Dijk, but they were demanding a hefty transfer fee and gradually the deal was not finalised. With the departure of Nathan Ake to the Cherries on a club`s record transfer fee it was quite imminent that Conte will look for defensive reinforcements elsewhere, initially the London-based outfit was chasing another AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas who skipped a medical in Zenit and that issued more interests in him but finally it`s his defensive partner Rudiger who will be wearing the new Nike Blue kit this season.

The Germany defender has 16 caps for the senior national team and he has represented for Die Mannschaft at every level from the Under- 18s. He has played 25 Serie A matches in the 2016-17 season and has been booked 7 times. In addition to that, he was given the marching orders once in Serie A (in the game against Lazio) and in the Europa League match against Villarreal.

The Chelsea manager will have to address his disciplinary attributes as they look to defend their league title and start their Premier League campaign on 12th August 2017. Chelsea are also set to finalise the deals for the French defensive midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko from Monaco and the Brazilian left wingback Alex Sandro from Juventus.

The arrival of the Frenchman will create more competition for Nathaniel Chalobah and possibly provide the trigger for the tall statured 28-year-old Serb midfielder to join Manchester United.
