Aizawl FC have today declared the arrival or better to say the return of their former Captain David Lalrinmuana after two years. The player became a free agent after his contract with East Bengal expired and the Red and Gold showed no interest in renewing it. Aizawl took advantage of it and struck the deal with this skilful Mizo attacking-midfielder. David graduated from Mohun Bagan academy back in 2006 and began his senior career with the Madras Sporting Union at an age of only 14. Since then he had stints in several clubs. He played for Aizawl in two terms first, in 2012 and then from 2013-16. The second term proved to be highly successful as he came to the attention of the big names of Indian football with stellar performances with the Mizo outfit. David established himself as one of the most promising playmakers in Indian football and also won the Mizoram Premier League ‘Player of the tournament’ twice. He also played a pivotal role in the 2014 Santosh Trophy victory of Mizoram. His performance attracted suitors and East Bengal signed him before the commencement of last season. But the 24-year-old struggled to find first team place at the Kolkata outfit as he decided to return to his home state. Aizawl has got dismantled by the departure of most of the prominent names of the squad from last year. Under such circumstances, the arrival of their former skipper will boost the morale of the club and its numerous fans.
