Former French Champions strike a deal with Los Blancos prodigy
The 23-year-old Real Madrid striker, who has come through the ranks of Real Madrid’s B & C team, has been bought by Ligue 1 giants Lyon for £7m.
French giants Olympique Lyonnais have paid Real Madrid £7m to bring the striker to France. The club took to Twitter to announce this news.
Mariano Diaz showed some glimpses of his immense talent in Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey win over Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa last season, scoring a hat-trick in the second leg of the tie, but didn’t see an increase in playing time afterward. The Dominican Republic international had been a fringe player for Real for some time, earning most of his minutes with the B team.
Lyon have reportedly bought Diaz as a replacement for Lacazette, who is all set to leave the club after spending an overwhelming season with the club. Lacazette scored 36 goals in all competition last season and his performances has been the centre of attention for many “biggies” of Europe.
A press conference has been called for 4pm where Lyon will officially announce the arrival of Diaz at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais.
