AFC Bournemouth sign Nathan Ake
AFC Bournemouth have completed the signing of defender Nathan Aké from Chelsea on a ‘long term’ for a club record fee, reported to be around £20 million.
The 22-year-old Dutch international was part of the Bournemouth set up last season, when he joined on loan. He made 12 appearances for the Cherries and scored 3 goals before returning to Chelsea in January.

“I had a great time here last season so I’m really happy to be back,” Aké said after signing the new deal.
“It’s an exciting challenge. Chelsea is a great club and I learned so much there but this is a new step and the right place for me to develop even more.”
Aké joined Chelsea from Dutch side Feyenoord in 2011 as a 16-year-old and since then has enjoyed loan spells with Reading and Watford.
He also made several appearances for the Netherlands youth sides before making his senior debut in a friendly match against Morocco this summer.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe praised his new signing, saying:
“I am delighted that we have completed the signing of Nathan on a permanent basis.”
“He is someone we know all about, having had a very successful loan spell here last season.”
“Nathan is an outstanding young player with a fantastic attitude and a great desire to learn and develop.”
After returning to Chelsea in January, Aké was an integral part of the team as they won the Premier League and reached the FA Cup Final.
Last season, Bournemouth finished 9th in the league table, their best ever record in the Premier League and manager Eddie Howe was quick to act in the transfer window, making shrewd signing in goalkeeper Asmir Begović from Chelsea and striker Jermaine Defoe from Sunderland.
