West Ham ready to break the bank for Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud
West Ham are keen to sign Oliver Giroud and according to the Telegraph, they are ready to make the France international the most expensive transfer in their history.
But the move depends on the success or otherwise for Arsenal’s top target Alexandre Lacazette, as the Gunners’ bid £49 million bid for the Lyon forward.
The Gunners are keen to wrap up the deal with the Lyon forward and Arsene Wenger understands that Oliver Giroud needs first team football before the 2018 World Cup next summer.
So the reports suggest that Arsenal are open to sell Giroud if they can get hold of Lacazette, and the Hammers will like to make Giroud their attacking centrepiece.
West Ham are willing to pay £20m plus a staggering £130,000-a-week for Giroud which would make it the biggest deal in the club’s history.
Oliver Giroud who turns 30 in September only signed a new deal in January on £120,000-a-week which takes him up until 2020.
But West Ham are ready to better that and offer him an extra year to try to tempt him a move across London.
Lyon have admitted publicly they are interested in Giroud while Marseille have also been linked with him.But it is unlikely either club could match West Ham’s offer and now Giroud has a big decision to make on his future.
Giroud has bagged 16 goals and 4 assists for Arsenal in all competitions this season. But Giroud lost his place during the end of the campaign and now Arsenal could offload him to fund their rebuilding.
But they will not let Giroud leave until they get reinforcements for him and Giroud has stayed and fought for his place in the past. But Arsenal has declared Lacazette as their main priority.
So only time will tell where Oliver Giroud will end up at the end of the transfer window, but the Hammers are desperate to make him their most expensive signing.
