East Bengal makes huge signings ahead of the CFL campaign
Kolkata giants Kingfisher East Bengal has taken giant strides in the transfer market today. Amidst financial doldrums and compwtotion from the ISL franchises, the club has previously proved their credentials by roping in some big names. This time around, they have just added to their reputation by the new acquisitions.
East Bengal have roped in Salam Ranjan Singh from Bengaluru FC and Gabriel Fernandes. They have also extended the contract with custodian Luis Barreto.
Salam Ranjan Singh, the Manipuri centre-back is considered as one of the hottest prospects in Indian football. The graduate from Pune FC academy has proved his credentials for BFC and also played for India U23 side. His addition will make the defense line of East Bengal stronger as already Arnab Mondal and Gurwinder Singh have committed their future to the club.
The Goanese Right Winger Gabriel Fernandes can prove to be the perfect replacement for Romeo Fernandes. The 29 year old Sporting Clube de Goa graduate has tasted his trade in several clubs across the country and also played in the ISL for he Mumbai franchise. His addition will install pace and trickery in the side and will increase options for Jamil.
East Bengal officials have also extended contract with 36 year old Goanese custodian Luis Barreto. The veteran goalie has been serving the club since 2014 and after Mirshad from Kerala will be the second goalkeeper to struck a deal with the Red and Gold this season.
Although the contractual details have not been revealed, but ahead of the CFL campaign, the acquisitions of the club will surely issue a statement of intent to the rest.
